1. What we collect
We collect only what we need to quote, schedule, do and bill your work. Depending on how you deal with us, that can include:
- Contact details: your name, email address, phone number and the address where we work.
- About the job: what you want done, photos and measurements, access notes (such as a gate code or pets), your quote and signed Service Agreement, visit dates, and our notes and photos from the work.
- Payment records: invoices, what was paid and when, and the method (card, e-transfer, cheque or cash). Card numbers are entered into a secure Stripe field. We never see or store your full card number.
- Your account: when our client app launches, your sign-in details and preferences.
- Signing records: when you sign a Service Agreement, the date and time, your typed or drawn signature, your device type, and a fingerprint of the agreement you signed.
- Messages: what you send us and what we send you about your work.
2. Why we use it
- To quote, book, do and invoice your work, and to talk to you about it.
- To keep records of what was agreed and what was done, and to deal with any concern or claim.
- To run your account and, when they launch, our client app and rewards program.
- To meet our legal and tax obligations.
- To send you service messages, and promotional messages only if you agreed (see "Your choices").
We ask for your consent when you give us your information and use it only for these purposes. If we want to use it for something new, we ask you first. We never sell your information and never share it for advertising.
4. How long we keep it
We keep invoices, payment and tax records for at least six years, as Canadian tax law requires. We keep signed agreements, job records and photos for as long as we need them to deal with warranty and any claims, usually several years. Marketing preferences are kept until you change them. When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.
5. How we protect it
Connections to our website and portal are encrypted. Access to client records is limited by role and requires sign-in, and changes to records are logged. Files such as photos and signed agreements are kept in private storage. No system is perfectly secure, so if a breach puts you at real risk of harm, we will tell you and the Privacy Commissioner as the law requires.
6. Your choices & rights
- See and correct: you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it.
- Withdraw consent: you can ask us to stop using or to delete information, as far as we are able to while still meeting our legal duties and finishing work you booked.
- Marketing: every promotional email has an unsubscribe link, or you can reply "stop" to a text. Unsubscribing never stops the messages we must send about your work.
- Photos in our marketing: we use them only with your permission, and you can take that back for future use.
We reply to requests within 30 days. We may need to confirm who you are first.
7. This website
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. It stores a few small items on your device so it works properly: for example your sign-in state in the client portal, your light or dark theme setting, a referral code if you arrive through a friend's link, and, while you use the portal, the profile details you enter there (name, email, phone, address and photo). Logging out clears the profile details. You can clear everything in your browser at any time. Maps on this site load map tiles from OpenFreeMap, which can see your IP address when the map loads.
8. Contact & complaints
Our privacy contact is the owner. Email Office@abcoastal.ca, call (604) 360-5372 or write to AB Coastal Property Maintenance Ltd., 1967 Prestwick Dr, Vancouver, BC.
If we have not resolved a concern, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the current version. See also our Terms & Conditions.
